Spring (September to November)
From September to November, we find that the weather in the Hunter Valley is pleasantly mild, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures perfect for exploring the greater outdoors. Spring happens to be the quieter period before the summer rush; hence, it allows for a more relaxed experience at some of the best wineries in Hunter Valley.
Some wineries within the valley host special events, such as Jazz in the Vines at Tyrrell’s Vineyard and the Wollombi Small Farms Fair at the village of Wollombi. These are just a few places to visit in Hunter Valley, NSW, during the spring season.
Summer (December to February)
With the region’s vineyards in full swing for harvest, summer is the perfect time for fruit picking in Hunter Valley. Visitors can also plan their Hunter Valley wine-tasting tours or join the locals and other visitors for a relaxing afternoon picnic among the vines. Autumn (March to May)
Autumn offers cooler temperatures and breathtaking scenery as the vineyards and hillsides transform into a canvas of reds, oranges, and gold. This is an ideal season to explore the region’s colourful landscape on foot as you pick the last grapes or bike for a touch of adventure. Horse riding through the Valley is another great way to experience the outdoors during these months.
Autumn events are also huge in Hunter Valley, with the Lovedale Long Lunch being a popular dining experience often held on the 3rd weekend of May, guided by winemakers and veteran chefs in the Lovedale region. If you have had enough of the taste of wine in the area, you can opt for the autumn-inspired cocktail, which you will find at some of our favourite venues like Jimmy Joans, Goldfish, Nineteen and more.
Winter (June to August)
Well, we have to say that winter in the Hunter Valley offers a peaceful escape with fewer crowds. The colder weather sets the stage for intimate and relaxed moments ideal for couples and families.
